The AREW CHARITABLE FUND INC., a not-for-profit affiliation of AREW, was established as part of our on-going commitment to support real estate related education and other charitable activities. The Charitable Fund has two primary areas of focus: to support Women In Need (WIN), and to provide scholarships to students in real estate related programs. Committee members are involved in fundraising activities, mentoring students in real estate disciplines, and volunteering at WIN housing facilities within the five boroughs.
Can you imagine how difficult it must be to be on the street, homeless, with your children in tow?
WIN, Women In Need, provides support and at least a temporary residence to women in transition, escaping abusive situations or just unable to keep their housing.
WIN helps families find permanent housing as well; once they have permanent housing, families face daunting adjustments. Many have not had a home of their own for a very long time.
The Family Friends helps with a monthly stipend that gives the family an extra boost. It sounds like so little, but $100 a month can make the difference between success and failure as newly-independent women create new lives, go back to work, learn how to make a household budget, keep their children healthy and on track, in short: to achieve their goals. Their appreciation is clear as shown in letters sent to us by the women we sponsor.
Please join in this years' campaign to help sponsor a family in need. Your support helps these strong, courageous, and determined women continue in their efforts to build a better future for their children and themselves.
Here is what your support means to these women:
"I just want to update you on the changes in my life. I started a new job on Monday, September 25th and I also started school on that day..."
"...My goals for the future is to complete my training and graduate with my license in cosmetology..."
"...thank you all so much for your support"
"...I would like to say thank you for having me, this is very exciting for me to have a sponsor and not because of the money you all provide but to have someone to bond with,..."
"...I appreciate all the time and assistance WIN is willing to offer me. When you are living in poverty people tend to judge you and believe something is wrong with you. I have never used drugs, been in trouble with the law or deviated in any way. I am very determined to be off public assistance by December. Thank you for the part you play in helping me to reach my goals."
Our goal is to raise money all year for the Family Friends Program. You can reach Stephanie Butler, who is coordinating for AREW, at sbutler@libertytitleny.com
